How I Became SAP S/4HANA Sales Certified—And How You Can Too

In this blog post, I will share about my journey of over six years working with SAP, and how my career changed from an SAP sales and distribution functional consultant to an SAP S/4HANA Sales certified associate consultant.

When I completed my PG in Master of Computer Application my brother Kartik suggested that I choose a career in SAP SD, since that was what he had done—he was working as an ABAP and CRM consultant.

When I got my first job at a multinational company, I had heard about SAP HANA and SAP S/4HANA, but I knew little information about it. After working for three years, I decided to move on and started searching for a new job. Many companies demanded applicants have SAP S/4HANA Sales certification, which I didn’t have. With some further digging, I found that there are numerous benefits to having this certification. They include:

  • More hiring consideration. As you know, SAP is soon going to end support for SAP ERP, and lots of companies have started moving from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA. There is a huge demand for certified consultants in the new suite.
  • Better salaries. You can expect a good hike in your salary if you are planning to switch jobs and have an SAP certification in hand.
  • Better job opportunities. There are lots of jobs and project opportunities for SAP S/4HANA certified consultants when compared to non-certified consultants.

So I spent time observing the new functionality and changes which SAP S/4HANA Sales brought compared to SAP ECC Sales and Distribution. I also started to follow SAP blog posts and gained some knowledge of the solution. So, when I attended my interviews, I was able to provide answers on the basis of knowledge I collected through my reading. I was hired by Infosys, and soon after that I started to prepare for the certification exam.

To be honest, I was not that confident that I could clear the exam in my first attempt because I was unaware regarding the content of the test and the weightage of each topic covered. But I determined to clear the exam in a single attempt. I searched for books and study material, and that is how I came to know about SAP S/4HANA Sales Certification Guide written by Darío Franco & Jon Simmonds.

I want to thank the authors and SAP PRESS for helping me prepare for and meet my goal. The book provided what I needed to be confident for the exam. It covers all topics and is structured in such a manner that students get a complete knowledge of the test. It also provides practice questions along with detailed answer explanations for each.

The structure of the book was very simple and easy to navigate. It included tips, notes, examples, and warnings to supplement the text. It helped me to understand the course of study, provided learning techniques, and also grew my SAP S/4HANA Sales knowledge. By looking at the structure of the exam, I was able to learn what kinds of questions would be asked, how many attempts I could undertake in the case I didn’t pass the first time, and more.

The chapters were written in such a way that every concept became clear to me. The authors provided screenshots from an SAP S/4HANA system, as well as process flow diagrams and references to SAP Notes. It was quite comprehensive and I felt no need to refer to another book.

This study guide is perfect for people who want to take the SAP S/4HANA Sales C_TS460 and C_TS462 exams. I completed my C_TS460 studies with the book and am going to use it to complete my upskilling certification. I’m confident I’ll do just as well on the second exam as I did on the first.

Whether you are an experienced SAP S/4HANA Sales user or completely new to the system, this is the perfect book for you and you will surely clear the exam. Thanks to SAP PRESS and to you, the reader, for giving your valuable time to go through this post.
