# How to Hide Bank Details and Tax IDs of Business Partners in SAP S/4HANA

![Nadia Zvarich](https://blog.sap-press.com/hubfs/IMG_1105.jpeg) by [Nadia Zvarich](https://blog.sap-press.com/author/nadia-zvarich) on November 06, 2026

You have a requirement to hide the bank details and tax ID (SSN or EIN) of external (non-employee) business partners (BPs) based on authorizations in transaction BP and in the change history logs.

The steps below apply to S4CORE 108 (SAP S/4HANA 2023) on private cloud.

SAP has introduced additional authorization objects, described in the following SAP Notes:

- [SAP Note 3416153: How to use authorization object B\_BUPA\_GRP on BP transaction](https://me.sap.com/notes/3416153)
- [SAP Note 3416118: How to use authorization object B\_BUPA\_ATT on BP transaction](https://me.sap.com/notes/0003416118)
- [SAP Note 3416144: How to use authorization object B\_BUPA\_RLT on BP transaction](https://me.sap.com/notes/3416144)
- [SAP Note 3416138: How to use authorization object B\_BUPA\_FDG on BP transaction](https://me.sap.com/notes/3416138)

With this approach, you need to give up the other apps for maintaining BP master data (F3163 Manage Business Partner Master Dat: [SAP Fiori Apps Reference Library](https://fioriappslibrary.hana.ondemand.com/sap/fix/externalViewer/#/detail/Apps('F3163')/S32PCE), F1053A Manage Supplier Master Data: [SAP Fiori Apps Reference Library](https://fioriappslibrary.hana.ondemand.com/sap/fix/externalViewer/#/detail/Apps('F1053A')/S32PCE), and F0850A Manage Customer Master Data: [SAP Fiori Apps Reference Library](https://fioriappslibrary.hana.ondemand.com/sap/fix/externalViewer/#/detail/Apps('F0850A')/S32PCE)) and use only transaction BP, since these authorization objects are not part of those apps and the restriction will not work there. By default, these authorization objects are also not checked in the change history logs in transaction BP, so you need custom code to restrict them. See the details below.

To hide the [bank details of employee business partners](https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_CLOUD/f86dc2eb1f8b48c880a7607213104b27/720bcd5e3f094cb6801c70c6aec1eb3b.html) (EE BPs), you can use authorization object B\_BUPA\_BNK.

## Define the Field Groups You Want to Hide

Follow this path: Cross-Application Components-\>SAP Business Partner-\>Business Partner-\>Basic Settings-\>Authorization Management-\>Define Field Groups Relevant to Authorizations.

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-32-29-5840-PM.png?width=975&height=415&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-32-29-5840-PM.png)

Add the field groups for bank details and tax ID that you need to hide:

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-14-2944-PM.png?width=975&height=354&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-14-2944-PM.png)

## Excluding Field Groups from Authorization Objects B\_BUPA\_FDG and B\_BUPR\_FDG

In the authorization objects for BP, the following two values have to be excluded. This step is normally handled by the security team.

- 0009 – Bank Details
- 0114 – Tax and SSN Details

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-21-8067-PM.png?width=940&height=157&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-21-8067-PM.png)

Sensitive display and maintain roles are then created with this object, containing just bank details and just tax and SSN details, and assigned to the identified users. Similar changes should be done in object B\_BUPR\_FDG.

## Hiding Bank Details in the Change History Logs in Transaction BP

You need to apply [SAP Note 2892777](https://me.sap.com/notes/2892777).

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-28-8965-PM.png?width=975&height=141&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-28-8965-PM.png)

Then go to transaction BUS7, the standard SAP transaction code used to access the Business Data Tool (BDT) events in SAP ERP and [SAP S/4HANA](https://learning.sap-press.com/sap-s4hana-overview-benefits) systems):

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-36-0488-PM.png?width=796&height=737&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-36-0488-PM.png)

A new record is created for the custom function module:

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-40-8986-PM.png?width=975&height=559&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-40-8986-PM.png)

The custom function module was copied from the standard one BUP\_BUPA\_EVENT\_CHGD4:

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-46-3059-PM.png?width=940&height=292&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-46-3059-PM.png)

In the standard function module, you can see this code:

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-50-7768-PM.png?width=940&height=803&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-50-7768-PM.png)

The highlighted part is where SAP determines whether a change to the IBAN field is relevant for the logs. You can code your own logic in a similar way. In our case, we excluded ID 0009 for the display action (03) in authorization objects B\_BUPA\_FDG and B\_BUPR\_FDG. We can therefore add a condition: if these authorization objects do not contain ID 0009 for the display action, delete the change information for tables BUT0BK (payment details of the BP), KNBK (bank details of the customer), and LFBK (bank details of the vendor) from the BP change logs.

Here is an example for bank details (ID 0009) for authorization object B\_BUPA\_FDG:

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-55-2994-PM.png?width=670&height=295&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-33-55-2994-PM.png)

However, if you have EE BPs in your system, this check should not apply to them, since SAP provides a standard approach for employee BPs, unless you decide to apply the same approach to EE BPs as well. If you do not want the check applied to EE BPs, add further conditions to the IF statement, such as a check on BP roles or number ranges.

## Hiding Bank Details and Tax IDs in Reports

Standard reports do not check these authorization objects. Some reports [can be customized to do so](https://me.sap.com/notes/0003439181), such as F1861.

Code similar to the code in the section “Hiding Bank Details in the Change History Logs in Transaction BP” can be added to this method:

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-24-2814-PM.png?width=723&height=377&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-24-2814-PM.png)

Unfortunately, report F2640 does not offer this option, and the only way around it is to create a custom CDS view.

Another option is to assign the report in conjunction with roles, so that only users authorized for bank details and tax IDs can run it.

## Appendix: How to Restrict an Entire BP from Master Data Editing

When is this needed? One example: you have EE BPs created by conversion from the EE HR mini master. All the information is synced from the HR mini master to the BP, and you do not want anything edited directly on the BP, because the HR mini master is the source.

Prerequisite: EE BPs use a separate number range from external BPs. In this case you, need to proceed with authorization object B\_BUPA\_ATT. Configuration for this authorization object has to be done in Maintain Authorization Type:

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-30-4765-PM.png?width=723&height=139&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-30-4765-PM.png)

You need to create an authorization type which follows the approach that you choose, and find the right field to assign in screen field 1. In this case we choose “number range;” the field for that would be BUSSEARCH-PARTNER:

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-34-2813-PM.png?width=723&height=246&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-34-2813-PM.png)

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-42-6339-PM.png?width=723&height=392&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-42-6339-PM.png)

Then, in authorization object B\_BUPA\_ATT, you need to exclude those ranges:

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-47-4417-PM.png?width=723&height=390&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-47-4417-PM.png)

All ranges are included except the EE BP ranges, 09\* and 0E\*. When you try to display or change a BP, you will see this error:

![](https://blog.sap-press.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-51-9757-PM.png?width=704&height=82&name=image-png-Oct-08-2026-03-34-51-9757-PM.png)

## Conclusion

You can utilize this approach instead of using the SAP data masking functionality to hide bank details, Tax IDs, and whatever other fields you need.
